Selena Gomez stunned in a sheer white dress during a press conference at the 2014 Ischia Global Film and Music Festival in Italy on Saturday.

But it isn't her latest fashion statement that's making headlines.

The singer/actress stirred up controversy on Friday after writing a post about the Israeli and Pakistani conflict on the Gaza strip and seemingly referring to the casualties of Israel's ground attack on Palestine.

She posted on Instagram: "Please pray for those families and babies today. Please always remember what's important in life. It's not any of this. We are here to help, inspire and love. Be that change. #wearethenextgeneration."

Nearly 300 Palestinians have been killed in the conflict, including an estimated 80 children, according to reports.

Fans flooded Gomez's account, some defending her while others threatening to unfollow her, forcing the star to clarify in a second post: "And of course to be clear, I am not picking any sides. I am praying for peace and humanity for all!"
