He writes, "I am deeply saddened by the loss of my dear friend Dick Clark. He has truly been one of the greatest influences in my life."
It's assumed that Seacrest will take over for Clark's hosting duties, having joined the host after he suffered a stroke prior to 2004's special. That year, Regis Philbin filled in for the only countdown Clark missed since the show's inception in 1974.
Dick Clark died this morning due to a massive heart attack, according to his agent. He was 82. Dick is survived by his three children and his third wife, Keri Wigton, married to him since 1977.
