A concert promoter for The Rolling Stones has slammed reports the band's current American trek has been devastated by poor ticket sales, insisting the tour is "doing great".

On Friday, the Satisfaction hit-makers initially failed to sell out their 50 & Counting world tour opener in Los Angeles as fans refused to spend $600 on best-seat tickets but a last-minute slash of prices to $85 enabled the band to play to a packed house.

Reports suggested sluggish sales had forced concert promoters to drastically cut ticket prices but John Meglen, co-president of AEG Live subsidiary Concerts West, insists the release of cheaper tickets for the struggling Staples Center show reflected a pre-arranged "flex pricing" strategy.

He tells Billboard.com, "It's unfortunate in our business that everybody wants to be cynics. The fact is, the tour is doing great and we have no problems whatsoever."

Meglen also insisted reports of mass discounting across the band's upcoming U.S. shows are false, adding, "There are no $600 tickets turning into $85 tickets, I can assure you of that."
