Rihanna is at the center of a new controversy after allegedly "bullying" a teen on Twitter.
Alexis Carter, a 16-year-old from Baltimore, Maryland, decided to make her own prom dress based on the green Alexandre Vauthier jumpsuit that Rihanna wore to the 2010 Echo Awards in Germany, and a photo of Alexis in her dress has now gone viral and left the teen feeling cyber-bullied.
"I was like, 'Oh my God... I love this outfit, I wanna go with this outfit. Let me go show my mom," she explained to Baltimore's Fox 45 about when she first saw Rihanna's picture. "And I was like, ‘Mom, mom, mom, I wanna wear this, look at this, it’s cool, I love it, oh my God.'"
The outfit was a hit at the prom, but no so much on Twitter afterward.
"Everybody was saying, 'Oh my God, I love it. It looks nice. Your body looks good. It’s different,'" Carter added.
Things took a turn for the worse when a photo of Alexis in her prom design went viral on Twitter with the hashtag #PromBat. Her photo also quickly became a meme, and was photoshopped in several different ways.
Rihanna, the teen's idol, also got in on the action, posting side-by-side images of her and Alexa in the outfit with a sad face caption. The word "IG" appeared under RiRi's photo, while "Real Life" was overlaid under Alexis's photo.
The singer added a second photo of Alexis next to the logo for the Wu Tang Clan, drawing a parallel between the two.
"I was very offended," Alexis said after seeing her idol's tweet. "Why throw shade on it when you had on the exact same thing. It was no different. The poses was different but the outfit wasn't."
Alexis blasted Rihanna over her tweets, saying, "She don't love her fans like she says she does."
