Ricky Martin Is Coming To TV
Four time Grammy and Latin Grammy Award multi platinum selling Latin music artist Ricky Martin is currently starring in the hottest ticket on Broadway as Che in “Evita,” but he has recently signed a deal with Universal for a series of his own plus some television specials. Universal has released no details of the deal as of yet.
Martin got his musical start as a part of the Latin boy band Menudo where he sang with the group for five years. He came known to American audiences when he played Miguel Morez – an hospital orderly with dreams of singing – on the daytime drama “General Hospital”. His self titled debut album has been certified seven times platinum for selling seven million copies. Broadway is not an unfamiliar place to Martin; he has appeared in a previous run of “Les Miserables”.
He has since taken the Latin pop music world by storm recording albums in English and Spanish and filling concert venues with screaming fans selling some 60 million records around the world. His autobiography “Me” (“Yo” in Spanish) has reached critical acclaim. Martin is raising twin boys – Matteo and Valentino – with his boyfriend.
