Review: 'Fast Five' 'Two Jews On Film' Drive In Different Directions With The Latest In This Franchise (Video)
'Fast Five' directed by Justin Lin is number Five in the 'Fast and the Furious' franchise.
The film continues where 'Fast and Furious' left off...Dominic (Vin Diesel) is sentenced to twenty five years in prison for murder. Of course, his good friend and ex cop, Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) and Dom's sister, Mia (Jordana Brewster) have different plans for him...
Let's just say this involves a really big bus crash, super fast cars, some kick ass driving that ends with Dom, Brian and Mia escaping to the beautiful city of Rio de Janeiro.
Unfortunately it's not all 'fun in the sun' for our trio. In order to get enough money to disappear forever, they must do one more job - A really big one...involving a local drug lord, Reyes (Joaquim de Almeida) and a 100 million dollar heist.
Dom and Brian assemble a top notch crew of experts and of course, it isn't long before they all become wanted criminals in Brazil. This brings them to the attention of federal agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and his posse of over muscular men (and one small woman). Now Dominic and his friends have to not only dodge the bullets of the drug cartel (and there are many) but stay under the radar of Agent Hobbs as well.
"Fast Five' has everything a lover of this genre could want. Edge of your seat action scenes, amazing car chases, street racing, hot women, a relentless train ride, lots of violence, and a couple of great twists.
You just have to ignore the part of the story where Brian and Dominic try to get deep with one another...Those moments are almost cringe worthy. But putting the stilted emotional moments aside, 'Fast Five' is all about the ride. It's fast, furious and a lot of fun. At least that's what I thought...However, my husband (the other reviewer) wanted off the ride shortly after it began.
'Fast Five' opens in theaters, Friday April 29, 2011.
