Pete Burns: 'Changing My Face Is Like Buying A New Sofa'
British singer Pete Burns has risked undergoing further cosmetic surgery on his face, despite almost losing his lips to infection following a botched procedure several years ago.
The former Dead or Alive frontman won a legal battle with London Harley Street doctor Maurizio Viel in 2008 after a lip implant operation left him needing major corrective surgery. His face became so infected; he underwent 100 further procedures to correct the damage and was warned by doctors he faced jaw amputation before he finally found a surgeon who saved his lips.
However, despite his hellish ordeal, the outlandish singer admits he has gone under the knife again. He tells Britain's Reveal magazine, "My most recent overhaul was about a month ago. I had a minor face lift and my eyes slanted. I also have regular peels and Botox. It's something I'll always do. People redecorate their homes every few years and I see this as no different. Changing my face is like buying a new sofa."
"I had piercings all over my face, which did look dreadful, but I got them done while waiting for my husband Michael to get a tattoo. I was bored."
Nevertheless, the star insists he will wait a few more years before he transforms himself again, adding, "I could leave it alone for long periods of time if I wanted... I'll wait another couple of years before my next overhaul... my face might fall off!"
