Newlyweds Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson got married over the weekend and will receive a paycheck that should help offset the wedding costs. People magazine reportedly paid the couple $300,000 for exclusive rights to photos from the nuptials.

People magazine has a history of paying mega bucks for these types of features. The New York Daily News reports that the mag also doled out money for Drew Barrymore's 2012 wedding to art consultant Will Kopelman and Kim Kardashian's 2011 wedding to NBA star Kris Humphries.

An insider said "there was no bidding war" for Simpson's images. However, there was some concern that photos would be leaked online on sites such as prior to the magazine's release. Wedding guests were reportedly told not to bring cell phones or take photographs. People magazine "didn't want any photos to come out before they run Wednesday."

A People spokesman told the NY Daily News: "We never discuss specific details of our photo negotiations.”

The couple married at the San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara, Calif., on July 5 in front of over 250 guests, including sister Ashlee Simpson and pals Cacee Cobb, Jessica Alba and Donald Faison.

The couple said in a statement to People: "We are overwhelmed with complete happiness and love having made our eternal commitment. To say 'I do' in front of family, friends and, most importantly, our children has been the happiest moment of our lives."

Simpson wore a custom Carolina Herrera gown, and daughter Maxwell, 2, served as flower girl, while son Ace, 1, was ring bearer. It's the second marriage for both.
