Nile Rodgers Plans Another Collaboration With Daft Punk After Discovering Lost Chic Tapes
Producer Nile Rodgers is planning another collaboration with French duo Daft Punk.
Rodgers worked with the electronic dance music (EDM) stars on their track "Get Lucky," off new album "Random Access Memories," and he's set to team up with Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter once again and resurrect an unfinished track (or more) by Rodgers' former band Chic, which he discoverd in a lost collection of his things at the Warner Music tape library.
"I found in the Warner tape library some old, unreleased Chic masters that were in boxes that said Chic (on the label) but when you opened it up they had Johnny Mathis inside... my film scores... Nile Rodgers solo tracks (and) Chic tracks that were not designed for any project so I'm (going to) finish (them)," Rodgers tells DJAZZ.tv.
"Daft Punk wants to do at least one of them with me," he adds, "so that should be very cool because they respect the music, they understand."
Rodgers plays guitar on "Get Lucky," which also features Pharrell Williams.
