It was windy, it was wet, it was cold. But that didn't stop over 500,000 people from lining the streets in preparation for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Inflation Ceremony Wednesday night.
Dear Slim,
I'm writing this on behalf of many fans,
who once upon a time believed that you were it - the Man.
In the past few seasons for network TV, there have been a few shows that were destined for greatness from their very first pilot episodes:

You want to know good television? March Madness is good television! As a person who spends much of his Starpulse time covering movies and music, I have to say I spent the entire past weekend engaged in neither of those things.
Like a good Vegas stand, I'm all in. This past week I was introduced to a nifty little website called Pandora. It is in a nutshell your iTunes player on shuffle but with extra cool songs
I'm just going to come out and admit it: I love watching "The Bachelor". I feel comfortable in declaring this in part because shortly after watching the last episode there was a Facebook status update

Tom Cruise must be the only actor on the planet who can get away with playing any character, at any time, with an American accent. He never really disappears in his roles
I'm inclined to think that "Synecdoche, New York" is one of the most fantastically depressing films made in the past several years. By that, I don't mean that it's a tear-jerker
In the days heading up to the premier of Baghead, the Sony Pictures Classics camper about a group of four friends who hole themselves up in a cabin to write a screenplay
When I found out that Adam Yauch, otherwise known as MCA of the Beastie Boys, was doing a documentary about the twenty four top high school prospects in the nation
One of the most talked about films at this year's Tribeca Film Festival is "Baghdad High" a documentary about-no, not about the Iraq war-four high school seniors who spent a full calendar year keeping video diaries of their daily lives.
The first impression you get from Ivan O'Mahoney and Laura Winters, the directors of "Baghdad High" is that they just might be filmmakers.
A few months ago, a rock 'em, sock 'em film called "Never Back Down" was released and broke the mold of fighter movies by becoming the first in a probable long line of box office productions featuring the fighting style of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). Now comes "Redbelt",
One of the neat things about TV's Lost is that by now you can hypothetically extract a character-any character-and recreate a situation in which only their scenes and flashbacks exist. You could easily get a movie's worth of material out of that character for any one season that's aired.
As the first week of the Tribeca Film Festival draws to a close, I must say that I feel like I've been treated to the Four Seasons of movie-going. Every film I have screened has been at the very least good, but most have fallen on the side of the fence that is exceptional.
What do the Nike swoosh, or the McDonald's "M", or the signature for Coca-Cola all have in common? They're all among the most instantly recognizable brand logos in the world. You can go anywhere-from Times Square in New York to the Congo in Africa, and people will know these logos and be able to tell you with great certainty who they belong to.
While the two week celebration that is the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival has yet to begin (April 23rd), I've had the opportunity to pre-screen a handful of films that will showcase at the festival when the red carpet rolls out for the filmmakers and stars alike. Are there films that will become buzzworthy by the time all is said and done? You betcha!
So, I couldn't help but wait for Jim Sturgess, the dashing leading actor in 21, to break out into a full-fledged Beatles cover of "I've Just Seen a Face," one of the several numbers he killed as the Paul McCartney equivalent in last year's tour de ummmmm, Across the Universe. He settles down into a generally believable American accent
As a former Portland resident, I'd gone into this film thinking that I was going to see the infamous downtown park crawling with bums and meth-addicts, and was a bit surprised to see instead Paranoid Park brought to us by way of Burnside (those of you familiar with the Tony Hawk video games will understand).
Probably the most underrated term in the music industry is the "One Hit Wonder." Popularized in the 80s, one hit wonders are either regarded as artists with one hit (like Deee-Lite’s "Groove is in the Heart"), or artists who produced a song that everybody knows (like "Turning Japanese" by The Vapors).
When I first comprised this list, I had all the usual suspects: Thriller, Closer, Daydream Nation, Purple Rain - you know, the albums you see on every other top 10 list for the 80s.
