R&B star Usher's hit ballad Climax has beaten South Korean pop sensation PSY's Gangnam Style to the top of Time magazine's 2012 best song countdown.

Editors have placed Carly Rae Jepsen's Call Me Maybe in third place, while Taylor Swift's We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, which picked up a Grammy nomination for Record of the Year on Wednesday night, and Parquet Courts' Master of My Craft round out the top five. Carole King cemented her place in music history as she was honored with her own star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame on Monday.
