His PR firm London's PublicEye firm then followed up with a statement that read: "Jamie is delighted that the film i...

'VANish' Star Tony 'Candyman' Todd Gives Insight On His Amazing Career!

February 24th, 2015 12:20pm EST
TT
Sometimes the hardest job for an actor immediately associated with a single standout character is to move past such a notorious notable and keep working. Fortunately for character actor Tony Todd, who is of course most recognized for his arresting work as former slave Daniel Robitaille turned hook wielding legend "Candyman," it’s truly been a success story. Having done some seriously stellar work both before (see "Platoon," "Lean On Me" and the Tom Savini version of "Night of the Living Dead" to name a few) and after ("The Crow," "The Rock" and of course the "Final Destination" films!) th...

Why Did Alejandro G. Iñárritu Deserve To Win Best Director?

February 23rd, 2015 8:30pm EST

In his second career Oscar nomination for Best Director, Alejandro G. Iñárritu took home the gold for “Birdman” (as well as two more wins, for Best Picture and Original Screenplay). Here is how he pulled it off:

1. The “One Shot” Trick
Coverage of “Birdman” has already discussed this feature to death, but it bears repeating: the entire film was shot and edited in such a way that it appeared to be one long continuous take. There actually were several cuts throughout, but most of the shots lasted about ten minutes, which is still an intensely long duration, considering that a one-minute sh...

It’s these roles that we salute here – five sinister, calculated and conniving characters who dared to slip on the mask of malevolence and lovingly gave the movie world a whole new definition of bad guy.
