'Face Off's McKenzie Westmore: Not Your Ordinary Host
SyFy's Face Off may be the most unique competition series on television. It's not a talent show, it's not about crazy stunts - instead, it takes us inside the world of movie makeup to see who can create the most magic. BFTV connected with series host McKenzie Westmore last week to chat about the currently airing sixth season and her own Hollywood career - including if soaps or Star Trek has the more passionate fan base.

"When I started Face Off, I really went into it with what's meant to be will be," she told us, reflecting on the success of the show. "You just don't know. In the beginning...

'Helix' 1.8: Glacial Speed

February 21st, 2014 11:39pm EST
I know that things move slowly in the extreme cold, but in the case of Helix 1.8, that apparently applies to the speed with which the story unfolds. The one good result of this is that we're still in suspense about what is really going on. But there's only so long that a plot can stay in the deep freeze.

Ok, one big change did occur in 1.8, but that concerned a major player who was just introduced to the series last week. It was satisfying to see Sutton garroted to death, especially after Alan and Sarah's attempt to get rid of her figuratively blew up in their faces and not enough in ...

'Sharknado 2' Films In Times Square - Check Out The Photos!
"Sharknado 2: The Second One" is currently filming in New York City, and we have some exiting photos to share from the production.

In several shots Ian Zeiring, who plays Fin, stands on top of yellow cab with co-stars Mark McGrath and Judd Hirsch. Vivica A. Fox is also featured freaking out at some unknown source (presumably a CGI shark that we can't see).

Ziering and Tara Reid will reprise their roles as Fin and April in the eagerly awaited "Sharknado" sequel. A freak weather system turns its deadly fury on New York City, unleashing a Sharknado on Big Apple residents and its most cher...

'Helix' Season 1 Episode 4 Review: The Cold DNA

January 25th, 2014 1:19am EST
With snow still on the ground, at least a little more coming, and the bone chilling cold continuing, what better time to watch a new episode - 1.4 - of Helix?   Except tonight, the chilling lessons in all areas are inside the lab facility, where find that

Sarah is suffering from a tumor, not the mysterious illness, which was likely - that she was not a victim of what was getting Peter and the others - because her symptoms were very different.  I'm thinking her tumor might at some point provide some DNA which could counter the single strand of DNA that is causing all the havoc.

That sing...

SyFy's paranormal investigation show Haunted Highway is back for another season of probing the country's mysteries and legends. BFTV recently caught up with Jael de Pardo, one of Haunted Highway's four investigators, to ask her about Season 2 and what has continually attracted her to the SyFy Channel and exploring the unknown.

Her introduction to the business wasn't that uncommon. "I grew up around the arts. I love the arts in all different kinds of forms whether it's an art exhibition or performance art or a Broadway play," she said. "It's something that's [been] part of me since I was a ...

Interviewing 'Haven''s Emily Rose At NYCC 2013

October 24th, 2013 5:30pm EDT
During New York Comic Con 2013, I interviewed actress Emily Rose, star of the SyFy network’s ‘Haven’ for an early Friday morning breakfast.

If you’ve never watched ‘Haven’ before, start. Seriously, start. Now. Its fourth season just kicked off. You can catch up. ‘Haven,’ based upon the well-crafted Stephen King short story ‘Colorado Kid,’ surrounds a female character who consistently saves supernaturally-afflicted, ‘troubled’ residents of a small New England town called Haven. While season one started rough, ‘Haven’ quickly became one of my favorite television shows where each season delve...

Jaime Murray
Jaime Murray wants to suck your blood. The Defiance star takes on the role of vampire villainess in Fright Night 2: New Blood, the direct-to-video sequel which follows 2011's Fright Night remake. Jaime recently joined BFTV to chat about her role as professor by day, killer by night Gerri Dandridge, and if it really is more fun to play the antagonist.

"I think it was enormous fun," she told us. "There's something about, in a horror movie, having to be scared all the time. I've done that too. I've been the victim in horror movies before. And I definitely think I prefer playing the aggressor....
