NASCAR driver and model Danica Patrick sought medical advice on Friday after she was struck on the head by a rock.

The brunette beauty was at a race in Las Vegas on Thursday night when the stone hit her "straight in the head", leaving her in pain.

Patrick, who was wearing a hat, spoke to medics on Friday and was later given the all-clear, according to the Associated Press.

Danica Patrick made history on Sunday by becoming the first woman driver in the sport's history to land the pole position for a NASCAR Sprint Cup race; and she did it for the sport's biggest event -- the Daytona 500.

South African Paralympian Oscar Pistorius has been charged with murder after his girlfriend was shot dead, amid police reports of previous domestic "incidents" at his home.

Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn was airlifted to the hospital on Tuesday after she was involved in a crash at the Alpine Skiing World Championships in Austria.

The gold medalist was competing in the women's super-giant slalom event on the opening day of the contest in Schladming when she fell and flipped, before hurtling into a safety gate.
