Breaking Benjamin And Kacey Musgraves Among Albums To Check Out
Last week, the music release world was graced with new albums from James Taylor, Adam Lambert, and the return of Hilary Duff – not to mention others. This week, music listeners everywhere have their most choice of who and what they want to purchase beginning Tuesday, June 23, 2015. The best way to describe this music release week is STACKED. No, Kanye West hasn’t dropped his new album, but a lot of new faces and some familiar ones make this week a captivating one.

How Did Mumford & Sons New Album Perform?

Mumford & Sons Take ‘Wilder Mind’ To No. 1 On Billboard
Unsurprisingly, Mumford & Sons cruised to a career second #1 album with Wilder Mind. Despite retooling their banjo-heavy style, plenty of people still joined the British band’s party – 249,000 to be exact, with most of those equating to copies sold. Go back three years earlier when Babel and mad banjo were still thriving, and the numbers were loftier to the tune of 600,000. Still, given the new normal of album sales and a new way to calculate the overall impact of an album, Mumford & Sons performed well.

It wasn’t all about Wilder Mind contrary to popular belief (or the majority of s...

25 Songs All About 'Names'
What’s in a N-A-M-E – “That is the question!” Within the 25 songs on this random playlist comprised of songs featuring name in their title, the simple, everyday word takes on numerous meanings and interpretations. Maybe it’s the disappointment of not knowing a person’s name, the arrogance of ensuring everybody knows THE NAME (aka cockiness), or more thoughtful ideas such as escapism. Regardless, after diving in to this list, you’ll know every single one of these songs and artists’ names!

1) Shawn Mendes, “I Don’t Even Know Your Name” (Handwritten, 2015)

Another week, a different #1 album – isn’t that how the old saying goes? After Alabama Shakes topped the Billboard 200 last week, this week country band Zac Brown Band takes over the top spot. Unsurprisingly, Zac Brown Band did work, as Jekyll + Hyde impacted to the tune of 228,000 units, with nearly 94% of those ‘units’ being sales. There was never any doubt that Zac Brown Band would come out on top as the closest competition, Josh Groban’s Stages, lands at #2 with 180,000 units, with nearly all of those comprising of sales. So in essence, the Billboard 200 is top-heavy this week.

New Album Releases To Check Out This Week

Mumford & Sons Leads Albums To Check Out
April was a slower month for new album releases across the board. It wasn’t quite like “watching paint dry,” but there was an absence of blockbuster releases with staying power. A perfect example of the lack of staying power – Shawn Mendes’ Handwritten debuted at #1 and proceeded to fall to #17 the following week. May is much more promising from the jump, as there are many notable releases dropping on an off-cycle May 4 (Monday) release date. Leading the charge is Mumford & Sons, but they are by no means the sole attraction this week.

Other songs, however, take their creativity to the next level, featuring unique, unforgettable titles. This list features 15 AWESOME songs with odd titles that make them standout from the rest.

Alabama Shakes’ Sophomore Album Rocks To The Top Of The Billboar
Alabama Shakes have great reason to celebrate as their sophomore album Sound & Color tops the Billboard 200 this week. Sound & Color didn’t exactly break sales records with the 91,000 copies it sold (96,000 overall units per Billboard), but it was enough to give the rock band its first number one album and best sales week. Alabama must be proud!

Alabama Shakes’ album was definitely the most popular of the week, but Yelawolf got some love this week too. And guess where he’s from – Alabama! After his debut album Radioactive flopped, Yelawolf’s sophomore set Love Story debuts at #3. Of ...

Shawn Mendes Debut Album Is Tops

Shawn Mendes Takes 'Handwritten' To No. 1 On The Billboard 200
Shawn Mendes wasn’t lying when he was singing “Something Big.” Surely he was anticipating his pending #1 album on the Billboard 200. That’s right Handwritten outperformed the competition to the tune of 119,000 units, most of which were album sales. Shawn Mendes, indeed is doing big things at a young age – he’s all of 16.

Mendes beat out more established artists who dropped new albums. Reba McEntire – a veteran by all means – settles for #3 with Love Somebody, moving a modest 62,000 units. As for Tyler the Creator, Cherry Bomb landed at #4, only producing 58,000 units. Interestingly...
