Six years ago, in an impoverished corner of India, an orphanage director and a slum boy captured the imagination of their country. Plucked from obscurity and thrust into the national spotlight, Budhia Singh ran 48 marathons by the age of four, winning thousands of fans and making headlines around the world. But what started as a remarkable rags-to-riches saga morphed into a tale of greed, corruption and broken dreams. Interview: Actress Moira Kelly On 'The Lion King 3D', David Lynch and The Chemistry Of 'The Cutting Edge'

September 13th, 2011 1:38pm EDT
Moira Kelly
For those who appreciate talent and presence with their beauty, Moira Kelly is a major actress of note. With her diverse body of work, from portraying the girl-next-door in David Lynch’s "Twin Peaks" film follow-up "Fire Walk With Me" to playing dual roles opposite Robert Downey Jr. in "Chaplin," Kelly has amassed quite an impressive amount of credits in a very short time. Moving away from the movie industry to follow a different passion (namely that of being a full-time stay-at-home mom!) for the last few years, Kelly recently surfaced to talk about the latest resurgence of her former ad...

Blu-Ray Review/Interview: Actor AJ Bowen Creates Serial Killer Gold In 'A Horrible Way To Die'

September 7th, 2011 12:22pm EDT
A horrible way to die photo
Style, substance and some kick-ass performances can take any flick in even a tired genre and infuse new life. Such is the case with the amazing and moody new serial killer themed "A Horrible Way To Die," out on Blu-ray Sept. 6 from Anchor Bay Films. It’s a picture that parallels powerful work like John McNaughton’s "Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer" in terms of its gritty and memorable realism. Plus the film features some amazing acting, especially lead AJ Bowen who portrays disturbed mass-murderer Gerrick Turrell. The only problem with the five-star Blu-ray is that even though there ...

Blu-ray Interview/Review: 'Scarface's' Steven Bauer - Career Interview Time!

September 6th, 2011 3:30pm EDT
Scarface piece
If Tony Montana was the heavy of his illegal operation, then his right hand man Manny Ribera was most certainly the heart. Brought to life by then newbie actor Steven Bauer, Manny had both a danger and charisma that made him a perfect yin to Tony’s wild and unpredictable yang. So we here at Starpulse thought it only fitting that just in time for the tasty release of the "Scarface" Limited Edition Blu-ray hitting shelves Sept. 6 from Universal Home Video (check out the review below as well!), we wanted to get some movie geek insight about the flick from the bold Bauer himself. And while m...

Five Actresses 'To Watch For'

August 10th, 2011 6:00pm EDT
Vinessa Shaw
There’s a current stigma that says young actresses of today don’t have the goods. That acting greats like Bette Davis, Elizabeth Taylor and Meryl Streep are simply a thing of the past - I say meet five exceptions. And while there are a ton of up and coming actresses currently working in film, these ladies are a handful of hopefuls who have managed to stay engrained in the brain with possibly only one or two striking performances under their ample belts. This is a group of gals who deserve to be seen more (aka give them more projects!) and we at Starpulse feel possess the ability to deliv...

People Who Are Awesome: Maroon 5

Maroon 5
Listening to Maroon 5 for the first time this month (yes, about a decade behind the rest of you) has made me smile and shake my head in wonderment. How could that not be worthy of being called awesome?

You see, I have a strangely apathetic relationship with music. Of course I have my favorite artists and a healthy stack of CD's like everyone else. But I don't connect with music the same way that I do with film or television, at least in part because I was never very good at it. I can't sing very well, yet have been known to sing often. In my grade school's band, I was actually k...

People Who Are Awesome: "Archer" & "Bob's Burgers" Star H. Jon Benjamin

April 30th, 2011 5:08pm EDT
Archer
I feel confident in saying that H. Jon Benjamin is the king of voice-over actors.

At this present moment, he's the star of not one but two animated series: the funniest comedy on TV, FX's Archer, and quirky freshman entry Bob's Burgers on sister network FOX. This summer, Comedy Central has given him a third series - the sketch comedy show simply titled Jon Benjamin Has A Van. As if that's not enough, he's still Carl the convenience store clerk on Family Guy, too. If you're into animated comedy, chances are you hear Benjamin (pictured here between Archer co-star Aisha Tyler and creator Ad...

People Who Are Awesome: Jason Clarke Of 'The Chicago Code'

March 28th, 2011 2:00pm EDT
The Chicago Code
If you've been listening to me at all in March, was there any doubt who this month's member of People Who Are Awesome was going to be?

I know that I've already used a lot of superlatives to heap praise on The Chicago Code star Jason Clarke, but when he's vaulted himself from "that guy I ran into once" to one of my favorite actors of all time, I have to recognize that. After all, that in and of itself is fairly awesome.

Let me get the shallow part out of the way first. He's good-looking, and I can personally attest that this is not one of those cases where the camera flatters. He has ...

People Who Are Awesome: Shane West

Nikita
How awesome is Shane West? He's so awesome that even though I'd already written a People Who Are Awesome column for February, I felt like I'd be doing a disservice if I didn't give him one anyway.

His performances in the Nikita episodes that aired in February were that memorable. As the plot of the freshman spy show ramped up, he took the character of Michael to a whole other level to match.

In "Coup de Grace," not only did we get to see Michael in tactical gear, but he finally started to catch on to the idea that he was being deceived. "The Last Seduction" brought us some of the most...
