'Supernatural' Recap: Knockin' On Heaven's Door

February 26th, 2014 11:21am EST
Supernatural
With the Winter Olympics bobsledding into that great competition in the sky for another four years, it's time for "Supernatural" to continue its angst-filled scare-a-thon. The appropriately titled "Captives" found Castiel assuming a very different, yet familiar position and our favorite prophet returned to yank on everyone's heartstrings like Quazimodo does cathedral bells.

Grab your lockpicks and let's dive in, shall we?

Angel Watch

I’ve actually missed Castiel over the last few episodes, so it’s good to see him back in the fold even if his scenes tanked the momentum of the episode...

New Girl
Every four years, the Winter Olympics inspires nations through through extreme snowy sports, the human spirit and a centuries' old flame. As much as I enjoyed the tear-jerking interviews and the incredible performances, I'm glad the Olympic torch has been extinguished and the television can resume its regularly scheduled programming. In honor of all of the returning shows, here are five spoilers you need to know on "New Girl", "Hawaii Five-0" and more...

Schmidt Happens. If you are hoping for Schmidt and Cece to reunite on Fox's "New Girl", you might not want to hold your breath. T...

Greg Finley Ready To Shine In 'Star-Crossed'
The CW is hoping young audiences will fall in love with Star-Crossed, its new science-fiction romance series. Featuring a human girl and an alien boy who connect when he and his cohorts are integrated into a suburban high school, it reminds us of The WB's cult hit Roswell. So what is it, exactly? BFTV asked Greg Finley, who plays the alien Drake, to shed some light on this already buzzed-about new show.

"I didn't know where it was going to go when I booked it. I knew it was a love story between an alien guy and a human girl," he told us. "But what I love the most is where it's gone. How in...

The CW Renews 'Arrow,' 'Vampire Diaries,' 'Originals,' 'Supernat
The CW series "Arrow," "Reign," "The Originals," "The Vampire Diaries" and "Supernatural" have been picked up for another season, according to the network's president, Mark Pedowitz.

"The Carrie Diaries," "Hart of Dixie," "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Tomorrow People" were not mentioned in the network's press release.

The Tuesday night pairing of "The Originals" and "Supernatural" gave the CW its best night in years, Pedowitz explained, adding that Wednesday and Thursday nights have also been strong due to "Vampire Diaries," "Arrow" and "Reign."

"I'm very pleased to announce early pick...

'The Vampire Diaries' Review: 'Total Eclipse Of The Heart'

'The Vampire Diaries' Review: 'Total Eclipse Of The Heart'
So, Dr. Wes stumbled into a legion of travelers to protect him. Great. It was a sparkling start after last week’s bummer of an episode. The introduction of Dr. Wes and the travelers are among my least favorite things about season five. The Damon torture episode before the winter hiatus was the nadir of TVD. Last week’s episode suggested a change for the rest of the season. I wrote about this whole three acts to a season thing that doesn’t work now. Oh well. Dr. Wes and the travelers act as catalysts for Damon’s further descent into regrettable life choices and then mosey off. They’ll be bac...

'Arrow' Recap: Heir To The Demon

'Arrow' Recap: Heir To The Demon
Nyssa al Ghul visits Starling City for personal reasons, which was the first clue that she didn’t come on orders from her father. Nyssa defeats a legion of airport security agents in her grand entrance and introduction to the audience. Oliver has faced many talented fighters but never an al Ghul. “Heir to the Demon” concerns Sara’s relationship with Nyssa and her family more than it concerns Oliver’s one fight with Nyssa. Sara and Nyssa work through their past relationship together, and, well, Sara works through quite a lot by the time she and Oliver make out and undress one another in the ...

'Supernatural' Recap: The Frat Diet

February 5th, 2014 11:15am EST
Supernatural
After nearly 200 episodes, the "Supernatural" masterminds are adept at tempering emotional angst with slapstick humor. "The Purge" tried to walk that artistic tightrope, balancing the emotional angst between Sam and Dean with the humor surrounding the weekly case. Due to the workout Yogi Sammy gave our feels, fans are bound to be sore well into the Olympic hiatus.

Grab your yoga mat, and let’s downward dive in, shall we?

The Case

The case was fairly entertaining with a slew of colorful characters ranging from a cheating competitive eater to a sheriff with a love of donuts that rivals...

'Supernatural's' Spin-Off Gets Tribal

'Supernatural's' Spin-Off Gets Tribal
“Supernatural,” The CW’s longest running series, is finally getting a spin-off. According to TVLine.com, “Supernatural: Tribes” centers on the escalating war between several monster families vying for power in Chicago, and of course, a hunter bent on revenge. Sounds downright Shakespearean, right?

The lead character is Ennis Roth, a presumably handsome man with “a strong sense of justice” who will cross paths with Sam and Dean (Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles respectively) after someone close to him is killed and “will learn the staggering truth” about the supernatural war brewing in ...

Review: 'The Vampire Diaries' Loses Even More Direction In 'The Devil Inside'

January 31st, 2014 10:00am EST
The Vampire Diaries
What the hell was that? “The Devil Inside” resets season five for the second time in twelve episodes, resetting for the first time in the season premiere. Katherine is Elena, Damon is Devil Damon again, Tyler’s back adding nothing to the story, the Whitmore plot has been sucked dry, and a directionless season loses more direction it didn’t have to lose. How did that happen? More and more The Vampire Diaries’ fifth season reminds me of Dawson’s Creek’s fifth season: directionless and broken up into three distinct ‘acts.’ Season five of TVD has Damon’s reversion to his season one self; season...

'Supernatural' Recap: The Werewolf Of Revenge Road

January 29th, 2014 10:21am EST
Supernatural
Last's week's game-changing episode of "Supernatural" resonated with me for days, and I couldn't wait to see how it rippled into this week's. Unfortunately, "Sharp Teeth" had as much bite as a toothless, old cat.

Grab your silver bullets, and let's dive in, shall we?

The brothers unite to solve the case of Garth's sudden re-emergence as a hit-and-run victim in Grantsburg, Wisconsin, where there has been a rash of mutilated animals. Despite the palpable crackling tension between Sam and Dean trying to slip Sam like Taylor Swift does boyfriends, the brothers still work a case like a the...
