Singer Clay Aiken, who is running for congress in his native North Carolina, was stunned on Monday after finding out that his main opponent had died.

Last week, Aiken had a slight lead over businessman Keith Crisco, 71, in the Democratic Party primary for a seat in the House. On Monday it was revealed that Crisco died suddenly after falling in his home in Asheboro.

Actors Ben Affleck and Seth Rogen testified before Congress in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday to raise awareness of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Alzheimer's disease, respectively.

Affleck spoke before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and met with Secretary of State John Kerry to discuss the ongoing conflict in the African country.

Clay Aiken has officially started his run for Congress in North Carolina, confirming rumors from earlier in the year when he was spotted with officials at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
