"Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay": Hilarious
After the Comic Con ended on Sunday, White Castle probably owed them a great debt of gratitude because there was nothing I craved more than a sandwich from them after watching clips from "Harold & Kumar." There is little about White Castle involved in the new movie, but it is hard not to associate their faces with that fast food chain. Kal Penn and Neil Patrick Harris were there, but John Cho could not attend. The writers of the film, John Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, were also there, and the mood in the IGN Theater was hundreds of people waiting to laugh.

The clips shown were not very new and have been leaked before, but that did not make them any less hilarious on the big screen. Harold and Kumar are off to Amsterdam to catch up with Harold's crush, but Kumar brings a bong on the plane and a passenger believes it is a bomb. They are investigated by an extremely racist agent played by Rob Corddry, who sends them to prison at Guantanamo Bay. Another clip involves them walking into a KKK meeting and getting exposed as "Mexicans." For fans of the first movie, this definitely seems like it follows the same humor and goes above and beyond.
The writers said it was mostly due to the huge amount of DVD sales that allowed them to sell a second film, and Neil Patrick Harris also thanked the fans because he credited the movie to bringing him back into the spotlight. He told a great story about not knowing he was in the film until an extra on set who is a friend called him to say "Dude, you're in the movie!" Kal Penn discussed how being a vegetarian made that least scene in the first movie difficult, but that the crew kindly made him dozens of tofu burgers instead. He also confessed to not being a stoner and that he is actually more like the character of Harold, whereas John Cho is actually more like Kumar in real life.
A few fan questions were handled with a laugh, like when a man asked Neil Patrick Harris if he was really snorting coke in the movie. Neil agreed that he did, and for all 20 takes that it took as well. The tone of the panel was light hearted and genuinely grateful toward the fans, so overall it was probably my favorite of the Comic Con. The fact it was placed on April 20, 4/20, did not escape anyone's notice. The movie comes out on April 25, which is this weekend, so you all better go out and get tickets. If this does well they may actually continue making the series!
