Almost Famous (2000)
Directed by Cameron Crowe. Starring Patrick Fugit, Kate Hudson, Francis McDormand, Billy Crudup, Jason Lee, Zooey Deschanel, and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
"Almost Famous" is a semiautobiographical account of writer/director Cameron Crowe's own teen years that recounts the story of William Miller, an aspiring journalist, who goes on tour with an up-and-coming rock band called Stillwater in 1973. From unlikely friendships with the glamorous "band aids" to dissolute backyard revelry, the seminal encounters that William experiences while living out a rock n' roll fantasy will make you laugh, break your heart, and conjure up genuine feelings of nostalgia. "Almost Famous" is a "golden God" among coming-of-age films possessing an enchanting energy that is sure to touch your heart and soul. And then of course, there is the "Tiny Dancer" scene. How could you not love a film where a moustache clad Billy Crudup and Jason Lee start rockin' out to Elton John on a bus?
