HUMPDAY

Nearly 10 years since the two college buddies were together, Ben and Andrew are reunited when Andrew shows up unexpectedly on Ben's doorstep. The two return to constant macho competition and find themselves trapped in a mutual dare to enter an amateur porn contest.

They develop the idea to have sex together on camera, but Ben and Andrew are unsure how it will work. The challenge becomes which of the two will tell Ben's wife, and what her reaction will be to their plan.

Lynn Shelton, a seasoned editor and winner of the 2009 Independent Spirit Award for "Someone to Watch For," is the director of this unconventional comedy. The movie itself also won the Sundance Film Festival's Special Jury Prize.

SEE IT, RENT IT, OR SKIP IT? Skip it. Veiled as a comedy, this almost documentary style film doesn't seem to have a lot of hilarity. The concept of two straight male friends trying to do gay porn together looks like it should be ripe with humor, but the trailer isn't particularly funny.

SOUL POWER

"Soul Power" is a documentary on the soul music festival organized in Kinshasa, Zaire in 1974 surrounding the rematch between boxers Muhammad Ali and George Foreman, also known as "The Rumble in the Jungle."

Documentary producer Jeffrey Levy-Hinte, steps into the director's chair for the first time with "Soul Power." Performances in the film include artists James Brown, B.B. King, The Spinners, and Bill Withers.

SEE IT, RENT IT, OR SKIP IT? See it. Even though this documentary will only be playing in LA and NY, if you have the opportunity, go see this film. Rich with history, and epic performances, "Soul Power" features some of the best African American musicians of the last 40 years.
