Julie and Susan had an interesting relationship from the very first season, with Julie often acting in a motherly figure toward her klutzy, emotional mother. She is often the voice of reason, especially when it came to her parents' tumultuous relationship, and Susan's subsequent relationship with Mike. Susan provided a shoulder for Julie through all of her heartbreaks, and their relationship is one of the most important on Wisteria lane ... even if it is had plenty of ups and downs. While it started out as a role reversal with the daughter protecting the mother, the relationship has developed over the seasons to be one of equals, and no matter what, Susan will always have Julie and vice versa. Even with Julie off at Princeton with her surprising taste in older professors!
