Joaquin Phoenix is most known for his portrayal of Johnny Cash in the 2005 film Walk the Line. He was nominated for the Best Actor Oscar and won a Golden Globe for the film. He has always had short hair and a clean-shaven face.
In February 2009, Phoenix appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman. He appeared disheveled and distant, not really answering any of Letterman's questions during the interview. He doesn't laugh at any of Letterman's jokes and wears sunglasses for the entire interview, except for the end. Phoenix also states that he is interested in leaving his career of acting and pursuing one in hip-hop music. He seems completely different from a previous interview he did on Letterman's show a few years ago. In the older interview, he is personable and coherent whereas in the recent interview, he clearly is not.
