The Prestige vs. The Illusionist (2006): One studio conceived of a film with themes of love, obsession and rivalry against a backdrop of ambitious young magicians in the turn of the century and then faster than you can say 'alakazam,' an identical film appeared! Edward Norton, Paul Giamatti and Jessica Biel took the stage a mere month before Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Scarlett Johansson debuted their act. Which was more Magical? The Illusionist's romance was not without twists, but it is the darkly thrilling Prestige that seemed to cast the bigger spell over audiences.

Bottom Line: Both movies make for appealing entertainment, but only The Prestige pulled off the ultimate parlor trick: A memorable acting appearance by the elusive rock icon, David Bowie.
