As a description of talented 22 year-old singer/actress Aaliyah Dana Haughton (Romeo Must Die, Queen of the Damned), few would disagree. On August 25, 2001, Aaliyah and seven members of her entourage were eager to get home after filming the video for her new single 'Rock the Boat' in the Bahamas. Under clear skies, the group boarded a Twin-Engine Cesna on Abaco Island to travel to Opa-locka Airport near Miami. They never made it. Crashing shortly after takeoff, the plane went down due to excessive weight (Aaliyah's equipment weighed several hundred pounds) and pilot error (Luis Morales III was found to have falsely obtained his FAA license and also had cocaine and alcohol in his system).
