Gianni Versace - Gianni Versace loved to make a splash; the showy Italian designer created couture that was risqué, edgy and designed to be the talk of the town. Unfortunately, the buzz in July of 1997 wasn't about Versace's latest collection, but about his murder. The fashion and entertainment worlds were rocked when on the morning of July 16th, Gianni was shot dead on the steps of Casa Casuarina, his opulent Miami Beach mansion. His murderer was spree killer Andrew Cunanan, a 27 year-old responsible for five deaths in total who seemingly targeted Versace for no reason (and later committed suicide). Several memorial services were observed for Versace, but none more star-studded than the funeral in Milan on July 24th. Guests included close friend Elton John, Sting, Naomi Campbell, fellow designers Giorgio Armani and Karl Lagerfeld and a few names we've already listed in this article: Carolyn Bessette Kennedy and Princess Di.
