SNL's Best - Raucous turns in National Lampoon's Animal House and Blues Brothers earned John Belushi fans; his tenure on Saturday Night Live made him a star. The laughter stopped on March 5, 1982 when the comic was found dead at the age of 33 in his room at the Chateau Marmont Hotel in Hollywood. Sadly, 15 years later one of Belushi's fans, Saturday Night Live's Chris Farley would also die at 33 and the similarities don't stop there: Both Belushi and Farley were alums of Chicago's famed Second City comedy troupe and both died as a result of overdosing on a Speedball (Heroin and Cocaine). Drugs weren't a problem for Saturday Night Live's Phil Hartman (also star of "Newsradio") but they were for his wife Brynn. On the evening of May 27, 1998, Brynn and Phil quarreled about her drug use and repeated trips to rehab. At dawn, Brynn crept into their bedroom and shot her 49 year-old husband three times while he slept; she later turning the gun on herself. Four years previous, in happier times, the cast of Saturday Night Live performed a song and dance to honor Hartman's departure from the show. The final scene showed Chris Farley and Phil Hartman with their arms around one another, singing "Goodbye" to the camera. Who could foresee that the two funnymen would die within five months of each other, leaving the world with a little less to smile about?
