Psycho
In arguably Alfred Hitchcock's best film, the story of Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins) and his mother unfolds after Marion Crane, (Janet Leigh) an office worker who embezzled a bunch of money from her company and decided to take off with it, shows up at The Bates Hotel and is its first customer in months. Unbeknownst to Marion, though, is the secret that Norman holds about his dear old mother. Of course, being in the wrong place at the wrong time, Marion never even has a chance to find out this secret as a hot shower after dinner leads to a bunch of "ee-ee-ee's" and her being stabbed to death in one of the greatest horror movie scenes of all time. A police officer in the area and a private dick hired by her company are hot on her trail and discover the suspicious activities at the motel. A couple of deaths later, well, you know the rest...
Oh right, and guess where this one takes place? Yep, the middle of the southwest desert.
