The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Tuesday that they signed QB Michael Vick to a one-year contract, making him a backup to starter Ben Roethlisberger. Minutes after the team tweeted out the news, dog lovers made it clear that they were disgusted with the team for signing a "dog killer."

Despite the opposition from fans, Roethlisberger states that he supports the Steelers signing Michael Vick and feels that his past has nothing to do with the game.

"This is a locker room. It's about football," Roethlisberger told reporters. "That's what matters to me most."

MMA fighter Ronda Rousey has earned herself another victory in the ring after defeating Bethe Correia Saturday night.

Rousey knocked out Brazilian Correia in just over half-a-minute to remain undefeated in the bantamweight division and bring her record to 12-0.

The fight was the main event at UFC 190, held at Rio de Janeiro's HSBC Arena, and it took Rousey just 34 seconds to defend her title. She told ESPN afterward that the fight went exactly as planned.

National Football League (NFL) star Jason Pierre-Paul had to have his right index finger amputated on Wednesday following complications from a fireworks accident on the Fourth of July.

Pierre-Paul, a star defensive back for the New York Giants, badly burned and injured his right hand while helping put on a fireworks display in his native South Florida. He was treated at a local hospital and required multiple surgeries, including skin grafts. He also broke his thumb and had to have pins inserted.

Pro Wrestling Legend Buddy Landel Dies At 53
Wrestling fans and friends are mourning the death of "Nature Boy" Buddy Landel, who died following a car crash on Sunday. He was 53. On June 21, Landel was involved in a serious car crash. After checking himself out of the hospital, his wife later found him unresponsive at their home in Virginia.

Tiger Woods Cheater Banner: Golfer Has 'Worst Day Ever,' Greeted
Tiger Woods was greeted with a "cheater banner" during the first round of the U.S. Open on Thursday.

According to Us Weekly, Woods was geared up to play in the 115th annual tournament, but things didn't really work out well for him. Not only did he play a terrible game, but an airplane overhead was towing a banner behind it that read "cheater" -- a clear dig at the previously unfaithful golfer.

While most people thought the banner was just par for the course (get it?), Woods couldn't do much to keep his golf game in check, and that likely had nothing to do with the aerial taunt.

Red Sox Fan Injured: Broken Bat Hits Fan, Causes Life Threating
A Red Sox fan was injured during Friday night's game at Fenway Park. According to The Big Lead, Brett Lawrie made contact with a ball that destroyed his bat. A piece of it flew into the stands, and struck a female fan in the head, causing life-threatening injuries.
