Getting To Know 'The Joe Schmo Show' Star Jo Newman

March 21st, 2013 10:40am EDT
Jo Newman
With season three of Spike's The Joe Schmo Show having ended earlier this month, actress Jo Newman can now stop pretending she's the deaf half of a bounty-hunting team. BFTV caught up with Jo to find out exactly how hard it is to consistently fake not being able to hear what's going on around you and what makes her laugh when she's not confusing unknowing reality-show participants.

"At first, we were all a little skeptical of The Joe Schmo Show. To begin with, no one knew what the hell it was!" she laughed. "In order for the show to work, it had to be created with the utmost secrecy.  We a...

DirecTV And Viacom Breakup Drama Continues: Canceled Channels Include BET, VH1, MTV, Comedy Central and More!

July 11th, 2012 11:22pm EDT
‘Money Talks and BS Walks’ is the old adage that instantly comes to mind while learning about this DirecTV/Viacom beef. Seemingly, however, DirecTV is not bs-ing because they recently pulled several popular channels from their satellite service on Tuesday night. BET, Comedy Central, MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon, and Spike are all gone and the plot continues to thicken, as the list of channels DirecTV threatens to shut down grows longer.

Apparently, while negotiating dollars and cents, the two powerhouses are at an impasse at the negotiating table and neither team is budging.

DirecTV claims it wa...

Mike Tyson The Self-Proclaimed 'Prostitute Hunter' To Hit Broadway!

June 21st, 2012 11:56am EDT
Mike Tyson and Spike Lee for new Boradway Show
The infamously garrulous Mike Tyson recently appeared on the Today Show to discuss his new Broadway show collaboration with director Spike Lee. This is Spike Lee’s first attempt at Broadway and Tyson is set to perform a one-man show titled Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth to open at the Longacre Theatre for six days only, starting July 31.

What will surely make this show interesting is Tyson’s infamous no-holds-barred story telling approach to his life. In his heyday, Tyson was known to make public outlandish, comical, and, sometimes, incomprehensible remarks – so much so, he was often parodie...

Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, Malin Akerman & More Ladies Sizzle At Guys Choice Awards

June 4th, 2012 12:00pm EDT
Malin Akerman & Julianne Hough
Spike TV's 6th Annual "Guys Choice" Awards was held on Saturday in Culver City, Calif,, and some of Hollywood's hottest young stars attended.

It was double trouble as beautiful blondes Malin Akerman and Juilanne Hough wore black dresses and posed together on the red carpet. We can't decide which one looks better!

In a fan boy's fantasy, Kristen Bell and Mila Kunis also got chummy for photographers. Others in attendance included Kendra Wilkinson, Brooke Hogan, Ray Liotta, and Jean-Claude Van Damme.

Check out more photos from the event...

TV Goodbye: Shows That Ended & Shows That Were Cancelled In 2011

December 31st, 2011 12:00pm EST
Canceled and Ended Shows in 2011
Ask the typical American to name 20 currently airing primetime television shows and they probably can't without doing some serious thinking. They'd probably even ramble off a few that were cancelled during the year or the year before without even realizing it.

In 2011 a myriad of television shows come to an end with over 80 leaving the airwaves, most of which you probably never even heard of (some were so small we didn't even include them in this year-end roundup).

Some had tearful goodbyes after long runs (Oprah, Big Love, Rescue Me), and others were canceled so fast we hardly even knew ...

'Blue Mountain State' Recap: 'One Week' (3.10)

November 10th, 2011 2:33am EST
Blue Mountain State
Art imitates life in this week's Blue Mountain State: the program gets a TV show made about it - and Coach Daniels puts a golf club through his TV upon seeing the end product. Ouch.

One can't really blame him, though. "One Week" is no "Hard Knocks" and this is no ESPN or NFL Network. It's full of bombastic narration and whoever wrote said narration is clearly interested in sucking up to offensive coordinator/coach in waiting Gilday (Anthony Lemke). But the device of sticking a camera in everyone's faces gives us the hilarity of them trying to come off much better than they all ar...

TV on DVD Roundup: 'Blue Mountain State,' 'The Real L Word' And More

Blue Mountain State
Here's what's new in the world of TV on DVD: college mayhem, archaeologists, starship captains and lots of sex. Read on for looks at Blue Mountain State, The Captains, The Real L Word, Queer as Folk UK and more...

Blue Mountain State: Season Two (Lionsgate)

Spike's original series Blue Mountain State is one of my guilty pleasures. It's vastly inappropriate and doesn't always make sense, but it doesn't pretend to be anything other than a hilariously good time. In season two, slacker QB Alex Moran (Daytime Emmy winner Darin Brooks) is stuck trying to keep egotistical "star player" Ra...

'Blue Mountain State' Review: 'The Peak' (3.03)

October 6th, 2011 2:37am EDT
Blue Mountain State
This week's Blue Mountain State teaches us a proper lesson in a tasteless way: popularity is fleeting.

For a guy who was in his own version of hell at the beginning of this season, Alex Moran has come a long way in a short time -- he's riding high this week, having thrown seven touchdowns in an upset of the top-ranked team in the country. And with victory, everyone suddenly wants to be your best friend. "Alex played awesome today, which means I care about him now," Thad tells his teammates, perfectly summing up college popularity in a nutshell.

Reveling in the attention, Alex be...
