A pair of pants worn by Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars trilogy has pulled in $36,100 at auction.

Mark Hamill donned the sand-colored Levi's to play the iconic Jedi Knight in George Lucas' 1977 sci-fi classic Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope.

On Tuesday, Experts at Los Angeles auction house Nate D. Sanders had set a pre-sale estimate of $70,000-$100,000, but the distressed pants pulled in $36,100 when they went under the hammer.

There were 13 bids for Skywalker's trousers, according to AFP.

Philanthropic actor Ben Affleck has teamed up with a footwear brand to design a limited edition shoe collection in aid of his Eastern Congo Initiative (ECI) charity.

The Argo director, who founded ECI in order to help communities in the war-torn Democratic Republic of Congo, has collaborated with TOMS shoes to create the line, made from brightly colored Congolese Textiles.

Green Day have joined forces with a skateboard company to create a line of boards inspired by the band's latest multi-album release to raise money for charity.

The punk rockers have teamed up with Real Skateboards, one of the biggest board companies in the country to benefit the Children's Hospital & Research Center in Oakland, California, where the sister of frontman Billie Joe Armstrong works.

The Great Gatsby star Leonardo DiCaprio raised $31.7 million for charity Monday by auctioning off an art collection - $14 million over the collection's estimate.

The auction event was entitled the 11th Hour, and the proceeds will go to the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, a conservation charity. DiCaprio told the art dealers and celebrities to "bid as if the fate of the planet depends on us."

The Monster's Ball star helped launch the 2013 EIF Revlon Run/Walk For Women, an annual fundraiser in aid of cancer research, treatment and counselling.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Christie's auction house have teamed up to sell art to raise money for environmental causes. The sale could approach a total of $18 million.
