George R.R. Martin, author of the Song of Ice and Fire book series, has responded to a letter sent to him from a teenage fan who made a donation to his Prizeo campaign and asked to be killed off in an upcoming book.

Martin started a campaign to raise money for the Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary and The Food Depot of Santa Fe on the website, which lets charities crowdsource money and offer prizes featuring celebrities. Billy Ray Cyrus Honors Slain Nevada Teacher Michael Landsberry
Country singer Billy Ray Cyrus recently paid tribute to a Nevada school teacher by the name of Michael Landsberry at his concert stop in Incline Village near Lake Tahoe. Landsberry passed away as the result of a school shooting at the hands of a 12-year-old student.

Cyrus presented Landsberry's widow Sharon with a memorial plaque and praised the fallen teacher. An ex-Marine, Landsberry tried to talk down the shooter before being shot in the chest at a middle school in the suburb of Sparks. Before taking his own life, the shooter also wounded two other classmates.

Paul McCartney is such a great guy that he helped a couple get engaged when he resumed his tour in Albany, New York, on July 5. As you may know, McCartney had been on sick leave from his tour but was well enough to get back to his fans the day following Independence Day, and he made the day special for concertgoers as well as one happy couple.

While performing a second encore, McCartney saw a couple holding up signs help up by John Dann and Claudia Rodgers. His sign read: "I've got the ring and I'm 64," while hers read: "He won't marry me 'til he meets you."

The "Material Girl" singer has revealed that she was inspired to help the city of Detroit by donating to three separate organizations. During a recent visit to Michigan, the singer said that she wanted to donate funds to organizations that will benefit women, youth and music aficionados.

Zumyah Thorpe was involved in a serious car accident in March of 2013. A simple act of kindness that Amy Adams performed seemingly in private is making headlines - for all the right reasons. The actress gave up her first-class plane ticket to a U.S. serviceman.

Jemele Hill, co-host of ESPN's "Numbers Never Lie," witnessed the act during a flight from Detroit to Los Angeles and posted about it on Twitter this morning.
