Disturbed Tops Billboard 200

Disturbed Return To a Familiar Place – No. 1 On The Billboard 20
Disturbed shocked the world this week – NOT! The popular rock band debuted at #1 for a fifth straight time with Immortalized, their first new album in five years. The numbers weren’t sexy per se, but the 98,000 units were enough to seal the deal atop the Billboard 200. Still, isn’t it a shame that no album was able to move 100,000 units for a second straight week? It’s not 42,000 units level of tepidness that Descendants endured, but still.

Disturbed weren’t the only debuts to land within the top 10 of the Billboard 200. Country singer Kip Moore quietly bows fourth with Wild Ones to th...

10 Songs About Death And Burial
Death is an eerie thing – understatement to the nth degree. Still, it’s real-life and as uncomfortable a topic it may be, it must be discussed. In the context of this article, death is approached from the postmortem practice of burial. There are no references to embalming, mummification or cremation. Who in their right mind would write a song about those things anyways? Well maybe somebody, but it doesn’t happen here! Still, these joints have the cemetery in mind.

1) Rick Ross featuring T.I., “Bury Me A G” (Self Made Volume 2, 2012)

Luke Bryan Makes It Two Weeks Atop Billboard 200
It’s hard to topple a king, and that’s exactly what country singer Luke Bryan is this week. After dropping Kill The Lights with robust numbers last week, Bryan manages to keep the top spot warm for a second consecutive week. No, he couldn’t score another 345,000 units, but he was good enough for another 99,000. Sophomore week blues happen to everybody, even when you’re a “Country Man” like Bryan.

So with Luke at the top once more, were there any newbies that debuted in the top 10? Yes. Melanie Martinez entered at #6 with her unique debut effort Cry Baby moving 40,000 units. The numbe...

Billboard 200 Sees Some Big Numbers

Luke Bryan And Dr. Dre Bring Some Much Needed Life To the Billbo
Last week on the Billboard 200 charts was a pitiful one. In case you missed it, the soundtrack to Disney’s made-for-TV movie Descendants debuted atop the charts, moving a tepid 42,000 units. Ouch! Such abysmal numbers are not the case for this week though, and music executives everywhere should be taking victory laps in the regard – preferably like in Blues Brothers.

Moving on, Luke Bryan unsurprisingly secured the top spot this week, easily dropping 345,000 units of Kill The Lights. While Bryan didn’t sell 345,000 copies, most of those according to Billboard were pure sales (320,000 o...

Review: Dr. Dre Delivers A Gem With 'Compton'
16 years. That was how long it’s been since a new Dr. Dre album. For years, the west coast MC/producer/multimillionaire has teased the release of a third studio album, Detox. After it was all said and done – or rather upon the surprise release of Compton, Detox was scrapped once and for all. If the effort was subpar as Dr. Dre stated, well, fans came out with a victory getting Compton, an exceptional album ranking among the most thrilling regardless of genre in 2015.

“Intro” offers a brief history of Compton, hence a fitting initiation for the effort. Foreshadowing the sentiment of t...
