from Thug Misses (2002)

Review: 5 Seconds of Summer Have a Knack for Catchy Choruses
“You look so perfect standing there / in my American Apparel underwear / and I know now, that I’m so down.” Catchy! Australian teen band 5 Seconds of Summer master the art of the catchy chorus throughout their full-length, self-titled debut album. After previewing this knack on EP She Looks So Perfect, yet another young band – aimed at teens and younger – looks to dominate not only Summer, but pop itself.

5 Second of Summer don’t ‘slay’ overall as much as their choruses do, but they don’t fail either. The first couple of songs from 5 Seconds of Summer are actually pretty good (that tra...

This Week in Music : Weird Al Takes 'Mandatory Fun' To The Top
“Weird Al” Yankovic did the unthinkable this week – debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200! That’s right, Weird Al’s latest album Mandatory Fun sold a robust 104,000 copies. Sure for other artists 104,000 copies might not be the ‘end all be all,’ but considering last week no albums surpassed the 100,000 copies mark and that comedy albums don’t generate those kinds of numbers, Al’s doing big things.

Jason Mraz was expected to put some pressure on Weird Al for top honors, and he did, coming up just short at 102,000 copies with Yes!. Even so, 102,000 copies is fantastic in the current market....

Review: 'Nobody's Smiling' Is Common's Best Album In Years

Standing only 10 tracks deep (13 on the deluxe version), Common has delivered nothing short of a moody, meaningful tour de force that should get every rapper on his toes. Featuring exceptional production from NO I.D. and a couple of solid collaborations, Nobody’s Smiling has the goods to erase frowns of which it references.

“The Neighborhood,” featuring Lil Herb and Cocaine 80s, kicks off Nobody’s Smiling mysteriously and moody. James Fauntleroy’s voic...

Beetles Kill George Harrison's Memorial Tree
An infestation of beetles has killed a memorial tree planted in honor of Beatles icon George Harrison.

The pine tree was planted in Griffin Park in Los Angeles, Calif., in 2004, three years after the musician, guitarist, singer-songwriter died from lung cancer. It represented the star's love of gardening.

Unfortunately, bark beetles and ladybugs led to the 10-foot-tall tree's demise. According to the Los Angeles Times, officials plan on replacing the tree with a new one in the same spot.

Often referred to as "the quiet Beatle," Harrison released several solo albums after the legendary ba...
