Review: While Sensual, Polanski's 'Venus In Fur' Is Unsatisfying and Stoic

Review: While Sensual, Polanski's 'Venus In Fur' Is Unsatisfying
It’s funny that way back in 1965 filmmaker Roman Polanski had all but mastered drama in a single space. The picture was called "Repulsion" and featured French actress Catherine Deneuve as a gal who is driven to madness inside her small London apartment. It was a movie experience that in the hands of Polanski went way beyond the confines of one location – it was an asset not a burden. Which is why the last few films directed by Polanski, including the new "Venus In Fur," have been such a terrible disappointment. Not just because they’ve been based on Broadway plays (also see "Carnage") o...

Beetles Kill George Harrison's Memorial Tree
An infestation of beetles has killed a memorial tree planted in honor of Beatles icon George Harrison.

The pine tree was planted in Griffin Park in Los Angeles, Calif., in 2004, three years after the musician, guitarist, singer-songwriter died from lung cancer. It represented the star's love of gardening.

Unfortunately, bark beetles and ladybugs led to the 10-foot-tall tree's demise. According to the Los Angeles Times, officials plan on replacing the tree with a new one in the same spot.

Often referred to as "the quiet Beatle," Harrison released several solo albums after the legendary ba...

Sophie Turner
Sansa Stark has been a whipping post in both the Game of Thrones HBO series and among fans of the show. Now actress Sophie Turner has defended her character and theorized why fans dislike Sansa.

In an interview with Nylon Singapore for its entertainment issue, Turner says she welcomed the challenged of the quiet and tortured Stark daughter. She told the magazine, "I really like the fact that she is quite a silent character. If she had spoken up in court at any point she would have gotten herself killed. "

Still, Turner says she used to let the criticism of her character affect her. "When ...

'The Bachelorette' Season 10, The Men Tell All Recap: TV Ultrasounds, Racism Cured Via Cookie Frosting

'The Bachelorette' Season 10, The Men Tell All Recap: TV Ultraso
In proud Bachelorette tradition, it's time to postpone the finale everyone's dying to see (although it would take almost no effort to google "Andi Dorfman" and figure out which guy she picked- the finale was taped weeks ago) for a block of pure, uncut filler.

Yes, it's "The Men Tell All," which is another of those awkward moments when Chris Harrison grinds the show to a halt to talk things through with the Bachelor or Bachelorette. Only, it's two hours long, it continually cuts to a crowd of emotion-hungry women (plus two dudes, for diversity quotas), and it ends with blooper bonus footage...

'Teen Wolf' Recap: Lacrosse & Lycanthropy

July 22nd, 2014 11:50am EDT
Teen Wolf
Here's a PSA to supernatural creatures: stay away from Beacon Hills. And Beacon County. There have been werewolf attacks, kanima paralysis, packs of Alphas, crazy maybe-bisexual Druids, nogitsunes, and now a freaking Deadpool of assassins trying to kill anyone for a buck. Out of the 30,000 people who live in Beacon Hills, I recommend abandoning ship.

Like this blond werewolf chick who I desperately rooted to stay alive. I know it was impossible for her to stay alive because she appeared before the credits, but still. She fought off the impossibly tiny little assassin named Violet before i...

Kanye West GQ Magazine August 2014
Kanye West is running his mouth off again, this time in a new cover story for the August issue of GQ magazine.

The rapper talked a lot about dealing with being a celebrity and dealing with the paparazzi; more specifically comparing life in the spotlight to facing the same kinds of discrimination that African-Americans faced during the civil rights movement of the 1960s. Yeah, he went there.

Kanye also explained that he's not the predator when it comes to the paparazzi, he's simply out to protect wife Kim Kardashian and their daughter, North, from those getting too close for comfort.

Thus...

Manson's friendship with Sutter helped him land the role of Ron Tully, a white supremacist prisoner who Jax [Charlie Hunnam] uses to expand his power base.

Ten Comic Book Characters You've Probably Never Heard Of
Comic book culture tends to be hard for average Joes to just break into. When one takes into consideration how many different retconned storylines interweave with the established lore and background of every hero and villain, it's no wonder that becoming a true comic book aficionado is an investment, rather than simply a reward. The fan devotion to certain brands forms an barrier that can be a little intimidating, and even off-putting, to those of us unfamiliar with that particular subculture.

To be an avid fan, comic book lovers are sometimes necessitated to remember a huge library of pas...
