Justin Timberlake was joined by R&B legends Shawn Stockman and Nathan Morris of Boyz II Men at the premiere of his new film Runner Runner at the film's world premiere at the Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on September 18.
The city was a fitting place for the premiere, as the film is centered on offshore betting.
The big story is that Las Vegas casino operators are using the film as a platform to restart the gambling industry's push to get internet poker legalized in the U.S..
According to Businessweek.com, Caesars Entertainment Corp. and MGM Resorts International placed ads on sites like Google and Facebook to call for new laws to regulate online gambling and keep players safe from unregulated gaming sites.
“Runner Runner” begins with a Princeton University grad student (Timberlake) who is struggling to pay his tuition and takes to online gambling to pay his way through school. He has a flawless scheme until an offshore gambling tycoon swindles him out of his entire savings. Timberlake's character soon finds himself in league with the tycoon after he's promised a fortune.
