Snoop DoggSnoop Dogg is teaming up with a campaign organization to help put an end to gun violence in the Country.

The prominent rapper is supporting the League of Young Voters Education Fund's No Guns Allowed movement, which was inspired by a song he wrote in response to shooting rampages across the U.S.

Snoop says, "No Guns Allowed is a really important song to me. I'm humbled that an organization like the League of Young Voters Education Fund supports what I'm saying in it and is taking action. Especially since they have been doing work for a long time to spread an anti-violence message in our communities."

The crusade will involve anti-violence rallies and the launch of a petition supporting a proposal for background checks on anyone buying weapons.

The group's Executive Director Rob 'Biko' Baker adds, "The League is excited and honored by Snoop's support. We're looking forward to collaborating with him in the near future to reach even more people and bring some much-needed attention to the work we've been doing for some time to make urban communities safer."

Snoop is also demanding politicians in D.C. reconsider an expansion on gun-control laws.

He recently told the Huffington post, "Politicians, you all got to pay attention, man, This world that we live in, it's so easy to get your hands on a gun. You've got to put some restrictions or ramifications on it. I can go outside right now and buy a gun. Easy. Just like that. You all should really think about it before it hits home, before it hits one of your family members or it hits you or affects someone personally that you know."

"It shouldn't take that. Those kids that lost their lives in Connecticut, those kids that keep losing their lives, innocent people who keep losing their lives; we have to speak up for them. We have to do something. We have to make a change. If we don't do nothing, it's going to hit us. If I can say it and I can mean it -- Goddamnit, get off your ass and make it happen."

According to Snoop, however, he's not looking to ban guns altogether.

"I'm speaking to gun violence. It's a big difference," he said. "I don't mind a guy having a gun that's protecting himself and knows how to use it. He's supposed to! I'm talking about these idiots with these guns that are shooting up these schools, shooting up these public places, that have no heart or no feelings for the people they're shooting. It's not fair."
