Robert Downey Jr. Is Convinced He'll Get An Oscar Someday
Forever the optimist, Roberty Downey Jr. believes he will eventually receive a Best Actor Academy Award.
The "Iron Man" and "Sherlock Holmes" star has already received two Oscar nominations for "Chaplin" (1992) and "Tropic Thunder" (2008).
Even though he lost out to Al Pacino and Heath Ledger, Downey Jr. believes his time will come. He told GQ magazine: "I know it's going to happen. That's just a fact. I, personally, would be shocked if we went to the end of the tape (my life) now and I didn't have at least one. Because it just doesn't make sense. That's why I don't mind showing up and watching everybody else get them."
However, he's not seeking critical acclaim. He added: "I don't care. I used to think I cared, and I couldn't care less. Now, I'm not saying I wouldn't get a little choked up, but it is amazing to see how people are literally hyperventilating when they get up there, because they have such an attachment to this outcome. I mean, it's not like we're at the f**king Olympics or something."
We'll see how he reacts if he actually wins an Oscar someday.
The actor stars in the highly anticipated film "Iron Man 3," which hits theaters in May. He recently appeared in the colassal hit "The Avengers." It's doubtful he will receive a nod for the superhero role - and probably not for his 2014 animated film "The Lego Movie."
