Donald Trump Withdraws Lawsuit Against Bill Maher
The Apprentice boss Donald Trump has withdrawn a $5 million lawsuit he filed against comedian Bill Maher.
The business mogul took offense to a joke Maher made during a January appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, on which he offered to donate $5 million to a charity of Trump's choice if the Republican could prove his dad wasn't an orangutan - a play on the businessman's relentless efforts to uncover facts about President Barack Obama's heritage.
He quipped, "The color of his hair and the color of an orange orangutan is the only two things in nature of the same color."
Trump accepted the informal challenge and promptly mailed Democrat Maher a copy of his birth certificate - and he launched legal action in February when Maher laughed off his demands for payment.
However, the property tycoon moved to have the case dismissed by officials at Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday, although a representative for Trump insists the outspoken star plans to amend the suit and re-file it "at a later date," reports TMZ.com.
