Holly Madison gives birth to Rainbow

William Shakespeare wrote in "Romeo and Juliet": "What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Can the same be said for babies and the strange names celebrities bestow on them?

Many fans have questioned former Playboy model Holly Madison's decision to name her baby girl Rainbow Aurora, who says the moniker will make her stonger as she grows up. Others think it sounds like a My Little Pony toy.

On Tuesday, Madison gave birth to Rainbow, her first child with fiance Pasquale Rotella. She defends the unusual name says she was inspired by a girl she went to school with.

Madison explained on her blog: "I have always loved the name Rainbow. There was a girl in my school a few years younger than me named Rainbow and I was so envious of her name because it was so pretty and unusual. She was a perfectly normal, well-adjusted, sporty girl, by the way, so I'm not worried about my daughter being 'traumatized' by having an unusual name.

"There are a lot of smug haters out there who bag on my choice of a name, but I don't care about what they think. I want my daughter to be proud of who she is and learn to speak up and stand up for herself at a young age. I spent most of my life being a people-pleaser who worried about what other people thought or thought was cool and I don't want that for her."

Hopefully, she'll shorten it and people will just call her "Rain." What do you think of the unusual moniker?
