James MurphyFormer LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy has filed a lawsuit against the co-founder of his record label, British music producer Tim Goldsworthy.

Murphy, who launched DFA Records with Goldsworthy in 2001, claims the DJ owes an outstanding amount of money. He also accuses his former partner of improperly using the company credit card and making unauthorized withdrawals from bank accounts.

On Friday, Murphy filed legal papers at the Manhattan Civil Supreme Court in New York seeking punitive damages, the cost of his attorney fees, and $93,899 for breach of contract and unjust enrichment.

According to documents obtained by DNAinfo.com, Murphy alleges he tried to resolve the matter with Goldsworthy outside of court, but his attempts were "rebuffed".

Goldsworthy previously fired off at Murphy after reportedly quitting the label in 2010. In a statement, he maintained the LCD Soundsystem star was "never there, cause he's always touring or in the studio."
