David Bowie's director son Duncan Jones is set to tackle his first major blockbuster after signing up to transform cult video game series Warcraft for the big screen.
Jones won critical acclaim for his directorial debut Moon in 2009, which was followed by 2011 thriller Source Code, starring Jake Gyllenhaal.
Now, he is set to oversee the $100 million adaptation of the hugely popular fantasy gaming franchise - his first big budget movie release.
A statement from Blizzard Entertainment, the company behind the games, reads, "We are pleased to announce that Duncan Jones, director of critically-acclaimed films Source Code and Moon, has signed on with Legendary Pictures to direct the upcoming live-action film based on the Warcraft universe."
After the confirmation, Jones revealed his apprehension over the big task ahead, writing in a post on Twitter.com, "So the gauntlet was thrown down ages ago: Can you make a proper movie of a video game? I've always said it's possible. Got to do it now!"
