Blues rock duo The Black Keys are taking legal action over allegations their song Howlin' For You was used in casino commercials without their permission.

Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney have filed a lawsuit at a New York federal court claiming the music featured in an advertisement for the L'Auberge Casino in Louisiana was "substantially similar" to their 2011 track.

Bosses at Pinnacle Entertainment, who run the casino, are also accused of using "infringing music" in another TV promo.

The stars cite a "blatant and purposeful infringement" in their complaint, which also names Manhattan Production Music, a company which makes tunes for commercial advertising, according to Rolling Stone magazine.

It is not the first time the Black Keys have been caught up in a legal wrangle over their songs - in November, they settled infringement lawsuits against Pizza Hut and Home Depot after the firms used their tracks Gold on the Ceiling and Lonely Boy in ads.
