Rockers Soul Asylum are joining forces with the National Football League for a charity food and wine tasting event in New Orleans, Louisiana next month.

The musicians will take to the stage at the New Orleans Convention Center to perform at the 22nd annual Taste of the NFL event in aid of hunger relief programs.

The event takes one high-profile chef from each city which is home to an NFL team and pairs them with a current or former player to create a delicious dish.

The guests sample the cuisine, chat with the chefs and meet the players with all proceeds benefiting food banks in each of the NFL teams' cities.

The band's frontman Dave Pirner, who currently lives in New Orleans, says, "Too many people in my community go to bed hungry, especially children. We are honoured to perform at Taste of the NFL to help raise funds and awareness for hunger relief in New Orleans and across the country."
