Singer Kris Allen has undergone surgery after breaking his wrist in a car crash on New Year's Day.

The American Idol star was with his wife Katy and pet dog when their vehicle was involved in an accident on Tuesday.

Allen took to his Twitter.com page after the smash to assure fans he was not too seriously hurt, and still planned to take to the stage as planned for his January shows.

The singer underwent an operation on Friday and he returned to the site on Saturday to inform followers of his progress.

In a series of posts, he writes, "Feelin alright after the surgery yesterday. I'm sure by tues the 8th ill be ready to rock. outalive tour. Also I have the best family, friends, and fans in the world. This has been a crazy time and I'm glad I'm surrounded by amazing people."

After the crash, Allen also revealed Katy is pregnant with their first child.
