Rock supergroup Asia have been forced to axe their upcoming U.K. tour after drummer Carl Palmer was diagnosed with a serious bacterial infection.

The Heat of the Moment hit-makers were due to celebrate their 30th anniversary on the road with a series of concerts, but they've pulled the plug on seven shows to allow Palmer time to recover from a severe case of E. coli.

A post on the band's official website reads, "Asia, featuring the original line-up of Geoff Downes (keyboards), Steve Howe (guitar), Carl Palmer (drums) and John Wetton (lead vocal, bass), has been forced to cancel the 30th Anniversary UK Tour due to drummer Carl Palmer coming down with a severe case of E. coli."

The rockers were slated to kick off their tour at Tavistock's The Wharf on Saturday, before wrapping up at London's O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire on December 22nd
