Randy Travis has quit drinking after a string of alcohol-related legal woes and is now in "the best shape of his life," according to his lawyer.

The 53-year-old singer has endured a rough 2012 following arrests for public intoxication, drunk-driving and assault, but he is bouncing back from his troubles after giving up booze.

The Honky Tonk Moon hit-maker has adopted a new healthy diet and is working out regularly to improve his fitness.

His attorney Larry Friedman tells TMZ.com, "(Travis) eliminated alcohol from his daily life. (He) works out three hours every day and is in the best shape of his life. He has a high protein diet and takes a lot of vitamins."

Friedman also reveals Travis headed back to the recording studio in Texas last week to work on new material.
