After seven years of marriage, NASCAR driver Danica Patrick has filed for divorce. The race car driver and Paul Hospenthal wed in 2005.

Patrick announced on Facebook that the split was amicable. She wrote: "I am sad to inform my fans that after 7 years, Paul and I have decided to amicably end our marriage. This isn't easy for either of us, but mutually it has come to this. He has been an important person and friend in my life and that's how we will remain moving forward."

The couple became acquainted when physical therapist Hospenthal helped Patrick recover from a hip injury in 2002.

She doesn't seem to be too hung up on her personal life. She posted on Twitter on Tuesday: "Omg! Thank u fans for voting me most popular driver for the 2012 @nascar_nns series! Y'all are the best! U heard me. Y'all."
