The latest poster to promote director Tom Hooper's big screen adaptation of the stage production based on Victor Hugo's epic tale Les Miserables was released on Monday, and it bears a striking resemblance to the original artwork used for Broadway's longest-running musical.

The new promo brings to life the original drawing of a young girl with a sad look and windswept hair, and features newcomer Isabelle Allen as the young Cosette instead of any of the film's top-billed stars -- Amanda Seyfried, Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway.

Set in 19th-century France, Les Mis tells the tale of Jean Valjean (Jackman), a man released from prison who takes on a new life and a new name and is hunted for years by police Inspector Javert (Crowe) for violating his parole. Valjean takes on the task of caring for poor factory worker Fantine's (Hathaway) young daughter Cosette (Allen, Seyfried plays the adult Cosette) after she dies.

Hooper's spectacular vision of Hugo's story also stars Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen; and features all the beloved songs from the play, including "I Dreamed a Dream," "Bring Him Home," "One Day More" and "On My Own".

Les Miserables hits theaters on Christmas Day.
