It isn't often that movies tie at the weekend box office, but that's just what happened with Jake Gyllenhaal's new Los Angeles police drama "End Of Watch" and creepy thriller "House At The End Of The Street." Both films generated $13 million.
"End of Watch" stars Michael Peña and Gyllenhaal as a pair of L.A. cops and close friends who work to keep the streets safe. Shot in a found-footage style, the movie follows the duo as they make enemies with a major drug cartel and attempt to lead happy personal lives.
"House at the end of the Street" centers on a teenager (Jennifer Lawrence) and her mother (Elisabeth Shue) who move to a new town and make a gruesome discovery about the house next door.
Clint Eastwood, Amy Adams and Justin Timberlake's new baseball movie "Trouble With the Curve" was close behind in the number-two spot with $12.7 million.
Karl Urban's new 3D "Judge Dredd" earned a weak $6.3 million, opening in sixth place.
