"Silver Linings Playbook," starring Bradley Cooper as a man recovering from a breakdown, won the coveted Blackberry People's Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) over the weekend.

The film, which also stars Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro, and Jacki Weaver, is an early Oscar favorite. Several films that have won the People's Choice Award have gone on to win Academy Awards, including "Slumdog Millionaire" and "The King's Speech."

In second place was Ben Affleck's "Argo" about a CIA agent who creates a fake Hollywood production in order to fool terrorists into releasing a group of U.S. diplomats during the Iranian Revolution.

"Seven Psychopaths," starring Christopher Walken and Woody Harrelson, won the Midnight Madness Award, and rock film "Artifact" was named best documentary.
